Cambodia and the Philippines committed to advancing military cooperation through joint training, human resource development, information sharing and the exchange of experiences between their respective armies.
The pledge was made during a meeting between Prime Minister Hun Manet and Roy M Galido, commander of the Philippine Army, on July 29 at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh.
During the meeting, Galido noted that the relationship between the two armies has been fruitful.
“Galido expressed the commitment to further strengthen and expand the cooperation between the Philippine and Cambodian armies”, a July 29 press release posted on the prime minister’s social media stated.
Manet highlighted that joint training and cooperation between the two armies have contributed to capacity-building and mutual understanding, especially in preparing for non-traditional threats.
“They particularly focused on combating technological crime, capacity building, preparedness for disaster relief operations and humanitarian assistance, as well as promoting future cooperation between army institutions of both countries,” stated the press release.
