Cuisine in Cambodia has seen rapid growth in the last decade with an increasing variety of local and international offerings in the city and provinces. Among them are Malis Restaurant and Khéma Angkor Restaurant– both in Siem Reap.

Established in 2004 with the passion to restore Cambodian cuisine to its former glory and put the Kingdom back on the map as a culinary destination, Malis Restaurant epitomises the best of Khmer gastronomy and allows patrons to experience its Living Cambodian Cuisine.

Located next to Siem Reap river, diners can bask in its delightful ambiance with a stunning garden, water pond and the Chhatra lounge allocated for a pre-dinner drink or a late private after-party.

Malis Director Loum pheany Preap told The Post that “our method of preparing local ingredients and recipes attracts both tourists and Cambodians who want to enjoy authentic meals in our high-end environment.” To bring out the delicate and delectable tastes in its offering, the range of dishes in the menu uses only the freshest produce to recreate flavours that delight the taste buds.

Malis has many special offers that encourage visitors to discover what Cambodian cuisine is all about. For example, the unlimited number of servings from its special grill menu at lunch includes roasted fish, grilled chicken, pork or beef with a choice of rice from its special selection.

Dining at Malis Restaurant, Loum pheany says, allows patrons to savour delicious Cambodian cuisine while also taking in a little bit of history.

“At the end of the 1970’s under the genocidal Khmer Rouge regime, many of the Kingdom’s traditional recipes that had been passed on for centuries were lost and vanished forever from the kitchen”.

“Malis Restaurant has revived some of them through our Living Cambodian Cuisine where Master Chef Luu Meng and his team delved into the past to recreate those that survived in memories and adapt them to the present to preserve them for the future,” she says.

Located at Wat Bo Village, at Sala Kamroeuk, in Siem Reap, Khéma Angkor Restaurant is a deli that offers an exquisite experience for lovers of Western cuisine in the heart of the town.

Khéma is the place to be for free-flow, with unlimited servings during breakfast or lunch. It is targeting not only expatriates and locals living in Siem Reap but also tourists who are staying in Cambodia and would like to take a break and enjoy Western food.

“The restaurant is a very sociable place where patrons can spend quality time with friends and family while enjoying the freshest food and signature dishes at value-for-money prices.

“Our imported artisanal cheeses, cold cuts, freshly baked pastries and breads are offered in-house and also available to take home,” General Manager Celine Troeung says.

Memorable experiences, she says, are created thanks to the restaurant’s unique space. Khéma Angkor outlet is a newly built building with a colonial-style inspiration that is adjacent to the banks of the Siem Reap River. It’s beautiful interior makes the restaurant undoubtedly unique.

It features ground floor dining with a large selection at the deli counter, an expansive first floor that can accommodate up to 140 people and a rooftop terrace bar to host corporate cocktail events, barbecues, concerts and much more.

The Malis and Khéma Angkor restaurants in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap are owned by Thalias Hospitality Group, which is also behind Topaz restaurant and Arunreas Hotel in Phnom Penh.
