Cambodian billiards player Sruong Pheavy beat Thai Vutthiphan Kongkaket in the top eight qualifiers to advance to the semi-finals of the 1 cushion event at the 32nd SEA Games.

During the match, held at AEON Mall Sen Sok, on the afternoon of May 12, Pheavy took a 50-26 lead over her Thai opponent, earning a place in the semi-finals. She will face either Vietnam’s Kei Tuong Phung or Rubilen Dacua Amit of the Philippines, who will meet to decide the other place in the top four.

Vietnam's Thi Ngoc Huele best Chezka Luy Centeno of the Philippines 50-19 in her top eight qualifier, and will meet Thailand’s Panchaya Channoi in the other semi-final.

Pheavy has already earned one gold medal, defeating Hoang Yen Nhi Nguyen of Vietnam 25-20 in the finals of her signature 3-cushion event.

Even though Pheavy has won many international titles in her adopted home of South Korea, she is eager to claim another medal for her native Cambodia. She is the only player representing the Kingdom in the billiards events.
