Cambodian billiards star Sruong Pheavy has reaffirmed her commitment to promoting Cambodia’s reputation on the international stage after receiving the PBA Golden Cue Award 2025. The Khmer athlete, who resides in South Korea, was honoured as Best Female Player by the International Billiards Federation, further cementing her reputation as a top-tier competitor.
A 2023 SEA Games gold medallist, Pheavy was recognised for her outstanding offensive play.
The award was announced during a special ceremony in Seoul, South Korea, on Wednesday, March 19, marking another milestone in her illustrious career.
This achievement underscores her continued dominance and popularity in South Korea, a country known for its highly competitive billiards scene.
In a short video message on Wednesday, Pheavy expressed her gratitude for the award.
“Today, I received an award from the International Billiards Federation. This award was not easy to obtain, as the selection process spans a full year, evaluating the most popular and skilled players. What makes this even more special is that I performed exceptionally well this year,” she said.
Pheavy’s journey to the Golden Cue required tremendous dedication to maintaining her high level of competition. She consistently outperformed many other international billiards players, securing multiple titles and medals along the way. With this award, Pheavy — like other top athletes — also received a substantial cash prize.
“What excites me most is that this award comes not only with recognition but also with a financial prize, which serves as motivation and validation of my efforts. I am truly delighted that my hard work has yielded such a prestigious result. Additionally, I am proud to promote Cambodia’s name, making our country more widely known,” she explained.
Born in Tboung Khmum province, Pheavy is married to a South Korean national. Over the past decade, she has built a strong following in South Korea, where her talent has earned significant support from billiards fans.
Determined to continue promoting Cambodia, Pheavy remains committed to showcasing her skills on the international stage.
“I will keep pushing myself to ensure that our country’s name gains even more recognition globally. I sincerely thank my parents, family and the supporters who have always stood by me — your encouragement is my greatest strength,” she said.
Beyond promoting Cambodia’s name on the world stage, as well as in South Korea, Pheavy is also dedicated to philanthropy.
She has raised funds from South Korean donors and private companies to support charitable activities in Cambodia.
According to a recent announcement, Pheavy plans to return to the Kingdom on March 21 to organise a charity event at the Autism Center. She has called on philanthropists to join her and her team in this meaningful endeavour.
