Para volleyball teams set for ASEAN games

Lieutenant General Lor Soleng, deputy chief of the National Police, met with the coaches and athletes of the Cambodian men’s and women’s seated volleyball teams on May 25 as they prepare to compete in the 12th ASEAN Para Games 2023, which are hosted by Cambodia, and kick off on June 3.

The Ministry of Interior said the meeting took place at the National Centre of Disabled Persons (NCDP) and was also attended by National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia (NPCC) secretary-general Yi Veasna, among others.

Soleng described how the men’s national volleyball team had claimed a historic silver for Cambodia at the recently concluded 32nd SEA Games, so the men's and women’s seated volleyball teams had been set a high bar to chase.

“In order to succeed, all of you must focus on building your team spirit and maintaining solidarity. You must also remember that you are representing the [16] million Cambodians who will be watching,” he said.

He praised them for their commitment to training hard and urged them to keep up the good work.
