The table topping Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng Football Club has announced an international partnership with Laos champions Young Elephants FC. The two sides have announced their intention to build a shared future of success, both on and off the pitch.
Svay Rieng FC described the partnership as a historic cooperative strategy, adding that the collaboration demonstrated the attention the two club owners are paying to the search for excellence.
In a January 5 social media post, the club explained that the partnership will focus on five main points.
“First, players will be exchanged. The two clubs understand that such exchanges are crucial for building talent and adaptation at the international level,” it said.
The second goal is to share information and set the strategic vision of the clubs, to achieve success together.
The third aspect of the partnership will focus on building collaboration on social media to attract viewers and strengthen relations between fans.
Fourth, the two clubs intend to schedule friendly matches and training camps.
“We are set to improve and develop skills – as well as friendships – through our efforts in this area,” said the club.
The fifth and final focus will be the building of international business relations.
“We need to establish a joint trade strategy that encapsulates more than just our activity on the football field. We have to pave the way for a future that is born of joint cooperation, as well as victories,” said Svay Rieng FC.
Their partnership received widespread support from fans of both clubs, with many commenting that the partnership will provide mutual benefits.
Svay Rieng FC is one of the strongest sides in this year’s Cambodian Premier League 2023-34, while the Young Elephants are back-to-back champions of Lao League 1.
The Lao side have experience, if not success, in international competitions, having contested the AFC Cup. During the preliminary stage of the cup in August, they suffered a 3-0 loss to Svay Rieng rival’s Phnom Penh Crown FC.
The Young Elephants expressed their delight at the new partnership in a January 5 social media post.
“We were deeply thankful and honoured to be able to cooperate with the Cambodian Premier League,” said the club.
