You no longer need to travel to Sihanoukville, Koh Kong, Kep and Kampot to enjoy one of the Kingdom’s famous beaches.
Cheas Penh, CIC Tour founder in Siem Reap, has come up with the novel idea of creating a man-made beach in the Kingdom’s second city.
“Siem Reap has no coastline like in Sihanoukville or Kep, but as the climate is getting warmer and warmer in Cambodia I want local and international visitors who come to the city to experience a beach here,” says Penh, who is general manager at Cambo Beach Club, which opened to the public in December last year.
“We saw that tourists visit the temples from the early morning and return to their hotel after lunch, but they have no place to relax, listen to music and hang out with friends. Therefore, we created a beach like experience to cool down after their temple tours.”

What makes it stand out, however, is that the pool area has been covered with white sand, sun beds with umbrellas and coconut trees to give it that seaside vibe, while a number of beach sports are also available.
“Besides the beach and the huge pool, we also have a beach volleyball court, table tennis, a pool table and massage parlour,” says Penh.
Laying on the club’s beach, tanning in the sun, is Thai tourist Somanta, who says the novelty of a beach in the city is really enjoyable.

“I like this beach, the huge pool and seeing my friends jump from the high diving boards. I’ve enjoyed chit-chatting with friends and listening to music,” she says.
Penh says that Cambo Beach Club can host party events holding up to 1,000 people.
“Normally, Cambo Beach has about 60-70 visitors per day, and at the weekend we have as many as 150 to 250 visitors that mostly are local people,” he says.
Tickets to visit the man-made beach are priced at $5 per person.
The club serves Asian and Western food, with prices ranging from $2.50 to $8, while beverages start at $1.50.
Cambo Beach Club is located on Siem Reap town’s Funky Lane. It is open from 10am to 11pm daily.
