The River Grass restaurant in Kampong Cham province serves affordable Khmer cuisine and is a place where guests can relax and enjoy views of the Mekong River. Guests can dine here on delectable food and take great pictures thanks to the restaurant’s unique location.
Peng Chhun who owns River Grass says while he is not a beach lover, he enjoys the landscape around the Mekong River in Kampong Cham.
"I noticed that most resorts are established by the beach rather than the river. And since the river has its unique features and qualities, I thought it would be a great idea to centre my restaurant in its vicinity.
“Besides, I wanted to do something to showcase the Mekong River and province which takes a lot of pride in it.
“I love Kampong Cham Mekong River as it has so much to offer the tourism and agricultural sector," he says.
River Grass serves lunch and dinner from 10 am to 10 pm. The dining area is divided into three main areas – the air-conditioned dining hall which is open only during lunchtime, an indoor area and the rooftop.
Specialities on the menu at River Grass include fish paste with coconut milk ($4.50), fried frogs ($5.50), sour fish soup ($8), fried pork ribs with garlic ($4.50), and fillet fish with bitter melon ($4.50).
Grass River focuses on hygiene, taste, and service. The restaurant was created to serve residents and the province at affordable prices.
More than 200 guests visit Grass River each day.
Chhun says the idea behind the ambience it offers and the location was inspired by his visits abroad where such sceneries captured his imagination.
In the future, more decorations will be added, especially for night time, so guests can enjoy the restaurant and its location even more.
River Grass Restaurant is just about 300 meters from the Kishuna Bridge. It is located in Village 2, Veal Vong Commune, Kampong Cham City, in Kampong Cham Province.
