The Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administrative Command are continuing their efforts to stamp out the scourge of online fraud in the province. Yesterday, March 26, authorities searched 80 houses within Borey Kuch Asia, located in Village 2, Sangkat 3, Sihanoukville.
During the operation, they seized large quantities of evidence, including 133 computers, 439 mobile phones, and most concerningly 5 air-powered replica firearms.
They also conducted a thorough inspection of the Jin Yu Men Tang Casino in Village 4, Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville, discovering nine suspects, along with evidence related to fraudulent activities, including computers and mobile phones,
This was the third time the casino has been searched, according to a report from the Secretariat of Commission for Combating Technology Crimes (CCTC).
The suspects and evidence were transferred to the provincial Police Command for further investigations.
According to the CCTC, from 2025 through the second week of March 2026, authorities have shuttered a total of 236 locations, including 91 casino locations and 145 houses in boreys (gated communities), as well as villas, condos and other private residences.
As the campaign intensified over the past eight months, Cambodian courts have dealt with 79 cases related to online scams, sentencing 697 ringleaders and their accomplices. Notable high-profile cases included those involving Prince founder Chen Zhi and former Oknha Li Kuong, who were arrested earlier this year.
The CCTC claim that the campaign has caused more than 220,000 individuals associated with online crimes to flee the Kingdom, via both air and land routes.
